‘Portfolio’ brought together the work of 11 seniors – Ahmed el-Sayed, Bekita Muwangua, Carla Mallari, Dana Elhaj Ahmad, Esra Sharab, Hissa Ismail Zainal, Khaltham Daham al-Kuwari, Modawi Mohamed al-Ansari, Reem al-Hajri, Selina Farooqui and Vanja Smitran. The show featured a wide range with elements of the traditional, handcrafted, modern, eclectic, architectural and glamorous.

The collections, inspired by desert nomads, treasure boxes, abstract art, theatrical designs for suspenders, Turkish kilims, a circus, Her Highness’ wardrobe, the sea, seasons and imperfection, were a statement of what the seniors aspire to be as designers.

South African guest designer Bongiwe Walaza’s collection was Africa inspired with a global appeal. Tatum Keshwar, Miss South Africa 2008, was the guest model for the show. The fashion show is part of the annual activities of VCUQatar’s fashion design programme, to develop the country’s growing fashion industry, with support from Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.
