RasGas advances with Qatarisation programme

As part of its on-going strategy to attract, retain and develop a workforce of the highest quality through its Qatarisation programme, RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) has recently recruited 32 new Qataris to its Process and Maintenance departments.

The young Qataris, who completed the initial Certificate-1 and 2 training, which is normally conducted by Qatar Petroleum, will now start a RasGas specific training programme, Certificate-3, to be managed by the Competency Assurance and Training (CAT) division of its Operations Business Department.

Hamad Mubarak Al Muhannadi, RasGas Operations Group Manager, who addressed the new recruits at a special welcoming session held recently at the RasGas Training Centre in Ras Laffan said: “”RasGas believes in bolstering the confidence of its workforce by enabling the employees to hone their skills in all areas of work on a regular basis as our human resources constitute the main asset of the company”.”

Al Muhannadi reiterated RasGas’’s commitment to professional development of young Qataris by creating a performance-based culture and setting up competency-based training in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 as they represent the future generation of the country’’s professionals and leaders.

Al Muhannadi along with Ahmad Al Mohannadi, Operations Business Manager, explained the growth plans of the company in reply to the questions raised by the new recruits.

The number of trainees, who have undertaken training programmes with the CAT division, has been on a steady increase during the last three years. Their number in the Process and Maintenance departments rose to 162 in the first half of 2011 from only 30 trainees in 2008. This is in addition to the 70 trainees from Qatar Petroleum, who were inducted to RasGas.
