Top Global Names highlight Congress Sessions on 2nd day of 20th World Petroleum Congress

The sessions on the second congress day of the 20th World Petroleum Congress drew large delegate audiences, particularly during the plenary sessions which featured a number of prominent global names.

Qatar’s Minister of Energy and Industry, H.E. Dr. Mohammed Bin Saleh Al Sada, participated in the day’s first plenary session alongside ExxonMobil’s CEO Rex Tillerson and Shell’s CEO Peter Voser in a high-level presentation of Qatar’s role in the future energy landscape.

The subsequent plenary session covered Solutions for Global Energy Challenges and addressed Regulatory Certainty, Environmental Protection and Geopolitical Cooperation. The plenary was chaired by H.E. Serge Dupont, Deputy Minister, Natural Resources, Canada, with Keynote Speeches from Antonio Brufau, Chairman & CEO, Repsol; Robert Dudley, Group Chief Executive, BP; and James Mulva, CEO, Conoco Phillips.

 

H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Al Ibrahim, Economic Advisor to H.H. the Emir of the State of Qatar then chaired a plenary session covering Responsible and Sustainable Investment for the Future. Keynote Speakers for this session included Peter Sands, Group Chief Executive, Standard Chartered PLC and Rhonda Zygocki, Executive Vice President, Policy and Planning, Chevron Corporation.

The ministerial sessions conducted on Tuesday included those led by H.E. Cal Dallas, Alberta’s (Canada) Minister of Intergovernmental, International and Aboriginal Relations; Mr. Raul Perez de Prado, President, Cubapetroleo, Cuba; H.E. Dr. Mohammad Mohsen Al Busairi, Kuwait’s Minister of Oil; and H.E. Mrs. Dieziani Allison-Madueke, Minister of Petroleum Resources, Nigeria.

The 20th WPC organizing committee also hosted an ‘Arabian Night’, one the most engaging social activities held at the Katara Cultural Village, on the sidelines of the 20th WPC
