His Excellency the Minister added: “We are fully confident that it will bring to Doha the latest knowledge and expertise in this field and results that are particularly relevant to the dominant health concerns of our region, many of them being linked to environmental factors. For this reason, it is of the utmost importance to give full support to research efforts in this field of study, so far underdeveloped in the Arab world.  This conference will certainly provide for a strong impulse in this direction and a platform for cooperation among experts in understanding the relationship between environmental factors, DNA mutation, and human disease.”

The conference aims to develop cooperation at the local, regional and global levels to determine the environmental causes to DNA mutation and to find solutions to human health issues related to it, and to promote research cooperation, and to enable all researchers and interested parties to participate in and contribute to the Conference by providing abstracts of research. Outstanding presentations by students and junior researchers who submit their abstracts will be especially honored.

The conference will focus on aspects of local and regional genetic testing, risk assessment and policy-making in regards to the protection of human health and the environment and is will be honoured by distinguished speakers including:  Her Royal Highness Professor Princess Chulabhorn of Thailand, Dr Kirk R. Smith, who was on the Nobel Laureate team with former US Vice President Al Gore, and other outstanding individuals, while during the conference, renowned scientists will chair separate symposia on many specific topics.
