Qatargas supports ‘World Blood Donor Day’ celebration

Qatargas today announced its support as Platinum sponsor of the ‘World Blood Donor Day’ celebration being organised by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

During a brief ceremony held at Hamad Medical City, Mansour Rashid Al-Naimi, Qatargas Public Relations Manager handed over a cheque to Mohammed Mubarak Al-Naimi, Executive Director, Marketing and Public Relations, Hamad Medical Corporation.

At the ‘World Blood Donor Day’ celebration scheduled to be held on June 14, Hamad Medical Corporation will honor individual blood donors as well as organisations that support HMC’s blood donation drive.

The ‘World Blood Donor Day’ is celebrated world wide on June 14 in order to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood. The theme for World Blood Donor Day 2012 is “Every blood donor is a hero”. While recognising the people across the world who save lives every day through their blood donations, the theme also strongly encourages more people to donate blood voluntarily and regularly.

Over the past several years, Qatargas has been organising regular blood donation campaigns at its premises in coordination with Hamad Medical Corporation. Hundreds of employees and contractors have donated valuable ‘drops of life’ during these campaigns. At the ‘World Blood Donor Day’ celebrations in 2011, Qatargas was presented with an award by HMC in recognition of its efforts supporting HMC’s blood donation drive.
