The new Carrefour Market in Dar Al Salem Khuleifat, Doha, Qatar, is part of a continuing, ambitious GCC-wide programme by the world’s second largest retailer, Carrefour, to expand the network of its globally-successful ‘Market’ brand in the region.
Carrefour, operated in the region through a joint venture with Majid Al Futtaim Group, officially opened the second Carrefour Market in Qatar today and the latest outlet joins the Carrefour Market, Lagoona Mall that opened in November 2011 with a selling area of 1000sqm.
With an emphasis on fresh food, grocery and household items and a selling area of 2200 sqm, the Carrefour Market in Dar Al Salem Khuleifat is now one of 23 successful Carrefour Markets established in the GCC and has received a positive reception from local shoppers in Qatar.

Franck Rouquet, Vice President Carrefour Supermarkets in the UAE, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait said the opening of the Carrefour Market in Dar Al Salem Khuleifat is part of Carrefour’s long-term drive to offer residents of Doha convenience and choice. “Qatar – and Doha in particular – is attracting new investment and a cosmopolitan mix of residents and we see this as the ideal time to continue to develop our internationally-renowned brand further. With the area’s expansion come varying needs from the local residents and with our focus on fresh, high-quality produce delivered daily to the shelves, we see this store as being a convenient, daily or weekly shopping destination.”
Produce in-store at Carrefour Market centres on fresh, high-quality food, with butchers and fishmongers on hand and daily deliveries straight to the shelves. Product ranges will also be introduced on a store-by-store basis to accommodate the needs and preferences of the immediate surrounding community.
