World’s premier real estate exhibition, Cityscape Qatar 2012 opens in Doha

Cityscape Qatar 2012, the Middle East’s leading real estate development and investment event, was opened yesterday by the Vice Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, Mohammad Bin Ahmed Bin Towar Al-Kuwari.

The ceremonial ribbon was cut before an audience including the most influential decision-makers and investors in real estate and infrastructure development in Qatar, the Middle East region and from across the globe as well as local and international media.

Cityscape 2012 is showcasing over 100 exhibitors presenting a variety of real estate development and infrastructure projects that highlight the world’s best investment opportunities in residential, commercial and retail. Over the next three days, Cityscape will host over 7,000 professionals and investors from around the world that are keen to support the exponential growth planned under Qatar’s National Vision for 2030.

Mohammad Bin Ahmed Bin Towar Al-Kuwari, Vice Chairman, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry toured the halls of the exhibition following the opening ceremony, which is being held at the Doha Exhibition Centre from 23 – 25 May, alongside His Excellency Sheikh Hamad Bin faisal Thani Al-Thani, Chairman of Al Khaliji Bank (al khaliji), who delivered the inaugural address on the importance of the real estate sector in realising the ambitions of the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Prestigious local exhibitors at the event include Al Khaliji Bank, Commercial Bank, Al Wa’ab City, Barwa Real Estate Company, Dlala Real Estate Co, Ezdan Real Estate, First Qatar Real Estate Development, Mazaya Qatar Real Estate Development, Qatar Coral For Real Estate Development LLC, QNB, and the United Development Company.

 

“Cityscape Qatar 2012 has brought together key industry leaders and companies from around the globe to enhance and support the vision for real estate growth to an international audience, highlighting iconic architecture, revolutionary developments and unparalleled investment opportunities. The unparalleled power-networking event is allowing participants to see first-hand Qatar’s future and the opportunities arising from 2022 FIFA World Cup and its ambitious plans as it diversifies from a hydrocarbon-based economy to a knowledge economy” said Rohan Marwaha, Managing Director for the Cityscape Group.

Taking place alongside the Cityscape exhibition is the inaugural Qatar Real Estate Summit subtitled “Harnessing the potential of the fastest growing economy in the world” and speaking on the topic: “Supporting Qatar’s 2011 – 2016 National Strategy through real estate development” with a keynote address from Eng. Abdulla Abdulaziz T. Al Subaie, Board Member and Group CEO, Barwa Real Estate.

In the afternoon, a series of panel discussions took place, where participants heard from key voices in real estate development locally, regionally and internationally. They keynote discussion panel looked at Determining Qatar’s economic forecast leading up to 2030 and beyond and tackled questions including Qatar’s market fundamentals and demographic forecasting; the role real estate sector plays in advancing Qatar’s economic strategy, improving efficiency, transparency and accountability to bolster growth and reviewing the economic strengths of Qatar and its real estate market projections for post-2022: What will happen after the World Cup?

Other discussion topics for afternoon panels included Market Fundamentals and Data Analysis, The Investor Challenge, The Developer Challenge, and a Spotlight on Affordable Housing.
