Innovations Unlimited ME shares award with Cai Guo-Qiang

Innovations Unlimited ME (IUME) – a Qatar-based event management company, won the award for the ‘Best Special Event’ of the Middle East 2012.

Today, IUME is officially handing over a personalized award to artist Cai Guo-Qiang during the official closing of his solo exhibition Saraab at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art.

The two-day opening event of the Saraab exhibition featuring Cai’s explosion event Black Ceremony was shortlisted for the ‘Special Best Event’ award category.

On the day of the public exhibition opening, IUME in collaboration with Fireworks by Grucci assisted the artist in realizing the largest daytime explosion project for guests attending the ceremony from both local and afar.

An offering to those who passed away in foreign lands, Black Ceremonywas a homecoming to lay their spirits to rest. Under the sun and over the barren wilderness, the explosions appeared like drops of ink splattered across the blue sky, creating fresh black blossoms.

IUME’s careful planning with the artist Cai Guo-Qiang and Fireworks by Grucci made the daytime explosion a staggering success. 8,300 firework shells embedded with computer chips were used – each custom-made for the event, which lasted under 4 minutes.
