RasGas’ donates 1.4 million QAR to local charities

RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) today donated QR1.4 million in proceeds to Al Arab Union for the Blind (AUB) and Qatar National Cancer Society (QNCS). The funds were raised during its 7th annual Charity Gala Dinner and related pro-am golf tournament which took place earlier this year.

The RasGas Charity Gala Dinner has proven to be very effective over the years in providing substantial financial support for deserving causes in Qatar and has become a core component of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

The proceeds were handed over to the charities by RasGas Managing Director Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi in a formal ceremony held at the RasGas headquarters. Dr Khaled Ali Al-Naimi, Director of AUB and Dr Khaled Bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of QNCS attended on behalf of their respective registered charity organisations.

“RasGas is committed to supporting members of the Qatari community regardless of nationality, gender or religion. Through our work with registered charitable associations and social organisations in Qatar we ensure that this support is targeted and sustained,” said Hamad Rashid Al Mohannadi, RasGas Managing Director.

“These donations are a demonstration of the values of corporate citizenship which RasGas’ shareholders, customers, suppliers and employees share. I have no doubt that our relationships have been enriched by these generous donations,” Al Mohannadi added.

As part of its support to the local community, RasGas established its Sunduk Al Kheir charity fund in 2010 to support long-term CSR Programme initiatives and is aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

RasGas has dedicated 2012 as its Year of Health to provide targeted and sustained support to health-related initiatives. Throughout 2012 RasGas has and will continue to develop initiatives aimed at raising awareness on the importance of leading an active lifestyle, nutrition and promote activities both with its employees and the local community.
