With the Holy month of Ramadan fast approaching, Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) is inviting volunteers to discover more about its Ramadan 2012 Project by taking part in the 3rd ROTA Volunteer Marketplace on Wednesday 13th June.
Organised to encourage existing and new volunteers to learn more about ROTA’s Ramadan activities, the fun, interactive and participatory 3-hour Volunteer Marketplace event at Carnegie Mellon University-Qatar in Education City starts at 5pm. Maps and driving directions can be found by visiting http://www.qatar.cmu.edu/851/visitor.
The ROTA Ramadan 2012 Project is organising a number of special activities including distribution of groceries to families in need, two house ‘makeover’ renovations and delivering Iftars to a number of community-based institutions. ROTA Volunteers also benefit from the opportunity to share the joy of Garangaou Night alongside children with special needs.
ROTA Director Mr. Essa Al Mannai said: “The Holy month of Ramadan is a very special time of the year. Our exciting initiatives reflect the true Ramadan spirit, providing practical help and support for various underprivileged groups in the community.”
ROTA’s Volunteer Marketplace also offers the chance for volunteers to register to take part in activities and meet other volunteers as well as members of the ROTA Volunteer Program Team.
Under the theme ‘New Beginnings’, ROTA’s Ramadan 2012 Project draws inspiration from the past whilst focusing firmly on the future. Demonstrating the ‘New Beginnings’ philosophy, ROTA’s Ramadan house renovation initiative will see ROTA ensure two families will look forward to a better future without much improved housing conditions.
George Tavola, Head of ROTA’s Volunteer Program said: “The Volunteer Marketplace marks the start of our Ramadan 2012 Project, an exciting annual volunteer campaign that offers the people of Qatar a number of customized volunteering opportunities to give back to the community in which we all live.”
“In particular, I want to encourage new volunteers to get involved by coming along to Education City on Wednesday 13th June. Joining the ROTA Volunteer Network means you get to meet like-minded people and contribute in a real way to community development in Doha.”
