DFI’s first short animation ‘Rain’ exclusive screening

Doha Film Institute screened its first short animation, ‘Rain’ at an exclusive screening in Katara on Sunday 10th June. It was the film’s first destination before it officially premier s at ‘Shorts Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2012’ in Tokyo, Japan.

‘Rain’, a 13 minute animated film based on a regional folktale from the Middle East, follows the main character ‘Rain’, on a journey into the desert. After a tragic event he seeks refuge in a drought stricken Bedouin camp where he is faced with challenging expectations. Unable to deliver, ‘Rain’ resorts to his spirituality and hope. The film tells a universal story of hope, generosity and a desperate wish.

This project is an outcome of a regional collaboration and a mix of talented animators from different parts of the world with Nitin Sawhney (pictured) creating the film’s score and Rahab El Ewaly directing. The film was appreciated by a backed audience of family members and cinema lovers.
