Qtel connects with community celebrating Philippine Independence Day

Qtel joined the celebrations this week, as members of Qatar’s Filipino community held a special celebration to mark the 114th Philippine Independence Day.

The event, which was held on 8 June 2012 at the Sheraton Doha, brought people together from across the country to mark an important day of national celebration for the expatriate Filipino community. Qtel provided full support for the event, including hosting a special booth with a range of attractive giveaways.

With over seven thousand people participating in the celebrations, attendees were treated to a day of excitement and entertainment, with local talent and dignitaries in attendance.  The event was led by Chairman Fidel M. Escurel from the Philippine Independence Day Organising Committee.

Independence Day is officially marked in the Philippines on June 12 each year, with parades, festivals and gatherings of friends and families to commemorate this occasion.

Qtel offers a range of special products and services that have proved extremely popular with the Filipino expatriate community, including Hala and Shahry Value Packs, and a range of dedicated Filipino channels on the Mozaic TV service. Customers can even remit money home to the Philippines via the Qtel Mobile Money service.

Qtel’s support for the local event was in-line with its pioneering Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, which aims to provide sponsorship for a range of grassroots activities across the whole community.
