Organised by Singapore Exhibition Services (SES) and co-hosted by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), imbX is Asia’s largest infocomm and media platform.
The event attracts government and business leaders, companies, industry professionals and leading ICT experts, who come together to showcase the latest technological innovations, network and exchange ideas.
This year’s event will take place from June 18–22, 2012, at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, and is expected to bring together more than 50,000 international participants from over 100 countries across the Middle East, Asia, Europe and the United States.
Strong participation from companies that have worked on key projects in Middle East is expected at this year’s event. Some of the companies from GCC that have previously participated in imbX include Gearhouse Broadcast Limited from Qatar; Studio Plus, Xconcepts Middle East and SunTec Business Solutions FZE from the UAE.
During this year’s imbX, IDA Singapore is expected to showcase some of its latest projects and initiatives under the Intelligent Nation 2015 (iN2015) masterplan, which guides Singapore in its transition into an intelligent nation and a global city through infocomm.
Exhibits will focus on the use of ICT by various sectors such government, education, cloud computing, start-ups, digital media and the community. Visitors to the IDA showcase can look forward to interactive displays that allow them to experience first-hand Singapore’s infocomm journey.
Running alongside imbX is the Ministerial Forum on ICT 2012, which Singapore is hosting for the 8th consecutive year. This high-profile forum attracts senior government officials from across the world, and this year, high-level delegates from the Sultanate of Oman are expected to be in attendance, amongst other senior officials. Themed “ICT for Greater Growth”, Ministerial participants will examine the role of ICT as a facilitator and driver of socio-economic growth and development, while delving into ways to manage risks posed by ICT.
Singapore, which is recognised for its innovative use of ICT and e-Government implementation in international fronts such as the World Economic Forum Global IT Report and Waseda University International e-Government Ranking[1], looks forward to learning and sharing best practices with the international delegates at the Ministerial Forum.
