Park House English School, one of Qatar’s oldest and most renowned schools, has announced its partnership with GAC Qatar, one of the country’s leading corporations, for the supply of its school sports uniforms and the joint development of sports programmes.
Both Park House and GAC each have a long history of providing excellence to their respective Qatari markets, and this partnership has been hailed by both parties as a natural progression from what is already a long and successful relationship.
Park House Director, Niall Brennan, son of the school’s founder, Mrs Heather Brennan, said the school had recently invested substantially in a comprehensive sports and activities programme, which is open to both its own students as well as to children and adults from the wider community.
“Programmes such as these are part of the ethos of the school and we are able to provide them due to partnerships with businesses like GAC, who support us in opening up opportunities to everyone,” said Mr Brennan. “At Park House English School, we take immense pride in the academic achievements of our students,” continued Mr Brennan, “but an all-round education is essential. Success in sport and other disciplines is also important because those experiences help them grow into well-rounded and well-developed young adults, ready for the rigours of the global market place.”
GAC Qatar was established in 1976 and is now one of the country’s leading logistical support companies, with interests ranging from construction, energy and shipping to entertainment, fashion and sport. Mikko Weiru, General Manager of GAC, Doha, who attended the presentation of the new sports uniforms to 200 Park House children, said his company’s partnership with the school underlined their mutual desire to invest time, energy and money in helping Qatar to develop the next generation of young adults.
“We want to invest in more than economic infrastructure,” he explained. “We want to invest in the future of Qatar through education and with Park House, one of Doha’s very best schools, we can do just that.”
Among the wide range of sporting activities which Park House offers to its students are: football, swimming, tennis, golf, cricket, rugby, netball, sailing, yachting, water polo and wakeboarding. Founded in 1994, Park House English School is the oldest non-embassy British school in Doha. It moved to its present site in Al Mansoura in 2005.
Its purpose-built facilities accommodate 1300 students from Nursery to Year 13 and learning takes place in large classrooms with 25 children in each class. High school students study for International General Certificate in Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A level courses.
The school is equipped with a full indoor gym, outdoor artificial football pitch and basketball courts. Facilities also include an all-weather sports field, a multi-purpose sports hall, a shaded swimming pool and a hard court area.
Park House is a member of QPPSSA and QUESS organisations that host a number of sporting events throughout the year for primary and secondary students respectively. The school is also a member of the British Schools of the Middle East grouping and regularly competes in a range of inter-school and GCC tournaments.
