Qtel yesterday announced that it has reached a major milestone in the QR1 billion roll-out of Qtel Fibre services, with more than 30,000 homes connected and 15,000 customers now enjoying superfast Internet and next generation television services.
In order for customers to move smoothly to Qtel Fibre, Qtel has initiated a two-stage migration process. During the first visit, Qtel technicians install access equipment and bring the fibre cable into the home. For the second visit, the Qtel Fibre teams install the necessary router and migrate customers’ services over to Qtel Fibre.
The process is being carried out zone-by-zone across Qatar, with door-to-door visitstaking place in every neighbourhood. When the Qtel Fibre teams arrive in a new zone, customers receive a special Qtel Fibre leaflet and authorisation form, letting them know that the Qtel Fibre team is set to visit one week in advance.
A member of the Qtel Fibre team explained: “We are working hard to close the gap between the first and second visits, as we look to bring Qtel Fibre to homes across Qatar. There are more resources going into the process over the coming months, which should ensure that more customers can enjoy the incredible speed of Qtel Fibre.”
Qtel customers who have already had the access equipment installed do not need to do anything – the Qtel Fibre team will be in touch to schedule a bespoke appointment, which can be in the morning, afternoon or evening depending on the customer’s convenience.
Qtel has thanked customers waiting for Qtel Fibre for their patience, and commented that the company is working hard to reduce the time between first and second visits. Customers who have not had the access equipment installed should ensure that they can provide access to their homes for the installation team when they are in the neighbourhood.
