With only hours to go before Cirque du Soleil first ever presentation in Doha, preparations are well under way at the Aspire Dome.
Two full 747 cargo plane filled with technical material, and more than 90 cast and crew members landed at the Doha airport this on Sunday in order to get the show ready on time. Two full days were required to set up more than 180,000 pounds (or more than 80 tons) of equipment for the July 4th performance. Saltimbanco, is scheduled to run from July 4th – 7th, 2012, at Aspire Dome in Doha with matinee shows on Friday and Saturday.
Saltimbanco is a Cirque du Soleil signature production, a remarkable combination of thrilling and colorful acrobatics acts. The show was inspired by the urban fabric of the metropolis and its colorful inhabitants. It features awe-inspiring acrobatics and astonishing athleticism during solo spotlights and epic ensembles. Saltimbanco is the longest running Cirque du Soleil touring show, a unique performance that has been seen by more than 13 million people all around the world.
Saltimbanco Company Manager, Chris May said, “We are expecting strong attendance at Cirque du Soleil first official performance in Qatar. We urge fans to come and be a part of this unique exhilarating experience, to be transported into a unique world.” He continued, “The team is extremely excited to perform to a diverse audience in Qatar but to visit the country, and experience its culture.”
Tickets are available through ticket points at Souq Waqif, Lagoona Mall and Virgin Megastores at Landmark Mall as well as online at www.cirquedusoleil.qa or www.virginmegastore.me. With VVIP tickets now sold out, ticket prices vary from 75QAR to 130QAR, with premium tickets also available.
