Ministry of Interior launched the experimental “MASARAK” Project to monitor the effectiveness of the smart traffic flow control system, provide information about traffic flow and areas of congestion, and facilitate sharing of traffic flow data of the Ministry of Interior to increase its accuracy in the field of information delivery.
Chief of National Command Center and Director of the General Directorate of Civil Defense, Brigadier Staff/ Abdullah Mohammed Al-Suwaidi said that the Ministry of Interior is constantly working to keep pace with the technical development in all fields in order to promote and develop its services provided to all segments of the society, therefore the Ministry, represented by National Command Center in collaboration with Qatar Innovations Center, developed “MASARAK” Project which provides smart services in order to enhance traffic flow in Qatar to include control of traffic flow and areas of congestion via advanced sensing systems as well as services that collect instant data about traffic flow from various sources and convert them into useful information about traffic flow.

He also said that such development is one of the objectives of the Ministry of Interior and stems from its strategy which is consistent with Qatar Vision 2030.
Al-Suwaidi stated that all information obtained are used to develop smart services and applications which meet the needs of the various segments of users and help in following up any traffic accidents on the roads. He also noted that “MASARAK” system is unique as it archives historical data which help in analyzing and examining traffic flow and frequency of traffic accidents, in addition to all other matters related to traffic.
