Qtel launches “Alkhair” campaign with best-ever Ramadan Mobile Internet offer

Qtel is sending out Ramadan Mubarak greetings to everyone in Qatar, with a special campaign, a range of community activities and its best-ever Mobile Internet rate for the Holy Month.

To mark the occasion, Qtel has launched the “Alkhair” (Goodness) campaign, designed to encourage Good Deeds during the Holy Month. Part of the aim of the campaign is to promote the importance of speaking kind words and helping others during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Qtel has planned a series of hospital visits and charitable initiatives for the Alkhair campaign, as well as providing ongoing support for the Refaq Campaign to improve impoverished housing in Qatar.

Mustafa Al-Qatami, Director, Branding & Corporate Communications, Qtel, said: “We have developed the Alkhair campaign to show the importance of good deeds and kind words during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Our aim is to ensure that everyone – young, old, rich and poor – feels the warmth and support of the community during this special time.”

With the incredible Ramadan mobile Internet offer, which starts on 20 July 2012, customers can opt-in and enjoy a Ramadan Mobile Internet rate of QR0.05 per megabyte – the best rate ever offered in Qatar.

Qtel hopes customers will use the incredible Mobile Internet rate to reach out to loved ones, reconnect with people they used to know, and encourage good actions during the Holy Month.

Fatima Sultan Al Kuwari, Director of Public Relations, Qtel: “This year’s Ramadan offer ties into the wider theme of the Alkhair campaign. We’ve made it easier for people to share Ramadan greetings and photos than ever before, and we hope people use this opportunity to reach out to people they haven’t contacted recently, or to share kind thoughts with friends and family.”

Hala customers can take advantage of this special mobile internet rate by sending the shortcode “data” to 121. Shahry customers can send “data” to 141.

Once activated, customers will receive the special mobile internet rate. The offer is available for all Shahry and Hala customers, with customers using the Shahry Unlimited Mobile Internet Packs receiving their usual unlimited allowance for QR100 less over the Holy Month.

This special Ramadan offer is available to Qtel customers from 20 July until the last day of Ramadan.

To support the “Alkhair” campaign, Qtel has created a special series of short films that focus on the impact of good deeds and which reflect the best elements of Qatari culture, the Alkhair campaign has been designed to touch hearts during the Holy Month.

The spirit of Alkhair has been demonstrated by Qtel’s Refaq Campaign, which has seen volunteers undertake major home improvements for underprivileged households across the country.

Already, the team has completed renovation projects for ten houses, where the volunteers have conducted maintenance and repair work, according to the needs of the specific households. A total of 60 homes have received vouchers that can be exchanged for household goods and necessities.

Over the Holy Month of Ramadan, the volunteers will start work on a number of households that require major renovation work. In the second wave, ten houses that need full renovations will be refurbished by the volunteers. Qtel is also providing a range of themed educational and religious programming on its Mozaic channel.

There will also be a special campaign at Landmark Mall in Doha, where people will be encouraged to write kind words and thoughts on a specially-provided wall.
