Complaints and grievances of Qatar University students now online

Students’ Affairs Sector in Qatar University launched online system of students’ complaints available at the online portal of students. Through this system, students can submit their academic and non-academic complaints and direct them to competent authorities in the University, which in turn search, investigate and discuss the subject of the complaint for accomplishment of solutions.

Source of information in the Students’ Affairs Sector disclosed to Al-Raya that students should review the policy and method of filing the complaints in the Student Guide, available at the website prior to filing their complaints.

The source stated that Qatar University proceed upon fair and just treatment with students, their relationships with administrative staff, or academic staff members, employees, and other University staff to establish and implement policies and procedures of students’ grievances whether academic or non-academic issues, as academic grievances include looking into issues and complaints related to admission, degrees, academic suspension, misleading, plagiarism, intentional falsification of information, or introduction of work prepared for certain curriculum into another curriculum, or violation of copyright.

The same source explained that unsatisfied student about the actions taken by an academic staff member with regard to the academic process can submit a grievance according to policies and procedures applicable for the cases of academic grievances, i.e. this applies to disagreement on accrual of degrees or making decision on the requirements of certain program or the eligibility of student to certain requirement or claiming that the requirements of an academic subject were not fair. The student can attempt to resolve the problem friendly with the academic staff member, however in case no satisfactory solution is reached, the dispute shall be subject to settlement by the head of department, or otherwise the latter shall discuss the matter with the dean of the faculty.

The source added that non-academic grievances include for example but not limited to verbal or physical harassment or threat or arbitrary or destructive behavior inside campus, penalties or dues.
