Qtel on Wednesday announced a cash prize of QR100,000 for each of the Qatar’s two Olympic medallists Mutaz Essa Barshim and Nasser Saleh al Attiyah. Barshim won a bronze medal in the men’s high jump at the Olympic Stadium in London on Tuesday.
Dedicating his medal to the Emir His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani and the Heir Apparent His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Barshim expressed joy over his success at the Games. Barshim joins Nasser Saleh al Attiyah, who won bronze for Qatar in the men’s skeet (rifle shooting) competition on day four of the Olympics.
Qtel will present both champions with their cash rewards at a special ceremony, which will be held in Qatar on their return from the Games. Qtel will also provide the same reward for any other Qatari athletes who wins a medal at the 2012 Olympics.

Qtel is also helping customers to celebrate Olympic success by offering a one-day free local and international SMS to all Hala and Shahry customers. The free SMS offer runs from 12 noon on Wednesday to 12 noon on Thursday. Hala and Shahry customers can send unlimited SMS locally and internationally. The offer does not apply for roaming SMS sent while overseas.
