Workers complain over salary dues

A large number of labourers of a construction company gathered in front of the Wakrah police station on Thursday after Iftar to present their complaints and register first information reports (FIRs) on non-payment of their wages and dues for the past six months, according to a report in the local Arabic daily Al Sharq.

Speaking on behalf of the protesters, a worker told the daily that the company bus had transported them to the police station and the officers there were “co-operative and kind”. The police contacted the company owners and got an assurance that all dues would be paid by next week, according to the paper. On this assurance the gathering dispersed, it said.
