Students and their families were provided with a comprehensive orientation on various opportunities and streams available in the field of international aviation as these young academics complete their study programmes. Qatar Airways’ National Scholarship Programme has been instrumental in nurturing and cultivating Qatari students, supporting them in their education, to develop skills required by the airline and to guide them towards becoming future leaders.
The group of Qatari students about to pursue higher education was selected from a competitive pool of applicants who will eventually represent the country’s award-winning national carrier, Qatar Airways as employees in various departments.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker congratulated the young academics on their educational pursuits and said: “To see so many Qatari young men and women, each of them an incredibly talented representative of this nation’s bright future, is inspiring.”

“We are confident that these students will prove to be very successful in their university studies in Qatar and overseas and will make us proud. These students will be given an opportunity to work with the world-class airline that we are today and hope they enjoy being a part of this interesting and fast-growing aviation environment. Qatar Airways supports Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and we believe that nurturing local Qatari talent is imperative for the airline’s long term success,” added Al Baker.
Both the British and American ambassadors praised Qatar Airways for its ongoing efforts towards encouraging young Qatari talent to join the airline and congratulated the scholarship students as they embarked on their journey of future studies in Qatar, the UK and the US.
During the pre-departure ceremony, Qatar Airways also acknowledged Qatari students who were part of the airline’s National Scholarship Programme and Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority for successfully completing their Summer Internships with the airline.

Qatar Airways Vice-President Nationalisation, Dr. Kholode Al-Obaidli delivered a presentation during the evening highlighting key aspects of the airline’s scholarship programme.
“The response from Qatari students towards the scholarship programme has been over-whelming with added interest since Qatar Airways was recently named World’s Best Airline for the second year running,” she said.
“More and more students strive to join Qatar Airways’ sponsored Pilot training and aircraft maintenance programmes, run in collaboration with Qatar’s Aeronautical College. Students are also joining to study a variety of majors in Qatar and overseas hoping to then work in different disciplines available within the airline and its subsidiaries including – corporate communications, accounts, human resources and product development.
“One of the major benefits of Qatar Airways’ scholarship programme is its practical approach in supporting educational pursuits with an optional work experience component both in Doha and internationally,” added Dr. Al-Obaidli.

The airline has seen rapid growth in just 15 years of operations, currently operating a modern fleet of 110 aircraft to 118 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.
