The Social Development Center (SDC), member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, in cooperation with Al Meera Consumer Goods, has launched a promotional campaign to support SDC’s Tarahum initiative – a fundraising project designed to support orphans, widows, divorced women, and single mothers, as well as underprivileged families, patients and students.
As part of the promotional campaign, a total of 1,818 shopping carts have been branded with the Tarahum logo across the various branches of Al Meera Supermarket, a well-known retail destination.
“I am grateful to Al Meera for their cooperation in promoting Tarahum, one of our most important humanitarian projects that seeks to meet the needs of thousands of individuals in Qatar,” said Amal Al-Mannai, Executive Director, SDC.
“Through Tarahum, we aim to raise QAR 3 million this year. Al Meera has shown a great sense of social responsibility towards Qatar’s society by offering to help us spread the word about Tarahum during the holy month of Ramadan,” she said.

A large portion of Tarahum’s capital stems from public funding. Individuals who wish to donate to the project can do so by visiting Qatar Islamic Bank – Main Branch, located on Grand Hamad Street, and depositing funds into Bank Account no. 100015838.
The Department of Community Services at SDC provides a range of services designed to encourage financial independence and ensure high productivity standards within the Qatari community. The department includes four main sections – medical, educational, humanitarian, and social collaboration services, and has benefitted a total 21,405 individuals so far.
