Workshops and parties to pep up Doha after Eid festivities

After the Eid holidays which most residents enjoyed, Doha is bustling with events once again as the country prepares to bid farewell to the summer and warm up for the muchawaited winter season.

The Filipino community through the initiative of Dugong Pinoy-United Filipino Volunteers will host a photography and post-processing workshop from August 24 to 25 at the Best Western Hotel formerly known as Doha Seef Hotel.

On August 30, La Cigale Hotel’s Seven Club will mark its second anniversary with a bash featuring international and local acts. The event, by Global DJs, will feature French House producer and DJ David Vendetta alongside other premier talents.

David is known for his singles ‘Freaky Girl’, ‘Anticipation’ (with Barbara Tucker), ‘Can You Feel It’ (featuring Brian Lucas), ‘Make Boys Cry’ (featuring Luciana) and ‘Yama Layali (featuring Haifa Wahbi).

Joining him on his Doha gig will be violinist Micah whose claim to fame included performing alongside Liza Minneli at the age of 13. Meanwhile, the local acts who will heat up Seven Club include Global DJs creator Jared Mcculloch and DJ Roger Choueiry.

For those up for a themed party, Sealine Beach Resort is the place to be for its Full Moon Party on August 31, from 9pm. The event by Red Apple Events and Sealine Beach Resort will feature massive foam pit (foam machines), state of the art lighting, massive sound system, multicolour lazers, AV screen, fire jugglers and stilt walkers.

The all-female line-up of performers who will entertain at the event are DJ Miss Velocity, percussionist Ciara Lavers, DJ Laura O’Shea and Doha’s RnB protégé Lady Sasa.

For those looking for a more-laid back tryst, Stand Up Comedy Qatar (SUCQatar) will hold an Eid Comedy Show at Bistro 61 (West Bay) on August 31 at 7pm. SUCQ is a coalition of Qatar-based stand-up comedians who aim at supporting up coming talents in the field.

On September 6, Global DJs will once again take the spotlight in the Doha entertainment scene with its firstever ‘Glow In the Dark Beach Party’ to be held at the Intercontinental Doha Hotel.

The event will feature international Paul Mendez, Jared McCulloch, Jade Rox, Steve KZ and Xwolf. Free glow gears will be given away to the patrons who will take part in the beach event.
