Mawashi announces end of sale of subsidized livestock

Qatar Company for Meat and Livestock Trading (Mawashi) has announced the end of sale of livestock from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Jordan, which it had offered at subsidized prices during the holy month of Ramadan and for the duration of Eid Al Fitr, as the subsidized quantity almost finished.

The subsidized prices initiative is running for the third consecutive year through the fruitful collaboration amongst the Ministry of Business and Trade, Qatar Development Bank and Mawashi and has been continuously well-received by Qataris owing to the role it plays in securing high-quality meat and livestock during Ramadan’s peak season at affordable prices.

A Mawashi official stated that this step strongly highlights the company’s steadfast commitment to cement well-measured fundamentals and methodologies for food pricing during Ramadan and throughout the year.

Mawashi has additionally brought to market meat and livestock from Australia amongst wide acclaim from the population of Qatar. The company has also imported different types of fresh livestock and chilled meat from Sudan, India, Pakistan, Somalia, Georgia and Ethiopia. Furthermore, Mawashi received livestock for the first time in Qatar from Armenia in line with the company’s long-term vision to become a key player in the country’s food security endeavors and its image as an exemplar of quality and competitiveness within its industry.
