A two-day GCC meeting on ‘Fiber Optic Cable’ and its use for security enhancement opened at the Doha Sheraton hotel on Tuesday.
The meeting, being attended by ministries of interior delegations from the GCC countries and the General Secretariat, focuses on ways to enhance joint work among the member countries in the field of using fiber optic cable to support comprehensive security apparatus and improve their adequacy from another side.
At the beginning of the meeting, Director of Communications Department at the Ministry of Interior Brigadier Ali Salim al Hanzab, who was also the chairman of the meeting, welcomed the members of the delegations to Qatar and wished them success meeting and a fruitful stay in Doha.
In a statement to the media, Brig Hanzab said the fiber optic cable project among the GCC countries was at completion stage and would be inaugurated in March, 2013. He said the project was based on latest secured communication network among the member countries with the use of fiber optic cable that would connect members and provide advanced and better services for different departments of the ministries of interior in the GCC.
The project will enable members to exchange significant information in security matters. The meeting is held periodically for follow-up activities and discussion of the issues related to laying of fiber optic cable in the GCC countries and to suggest practical ways to complete the project successfully.
