WCMC-Q invites graduates to apply for experience in WCMC-Q’s research department

Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar’s (WCMC-Q) Biomedical Research Training Program for Nationals, a program inspired by the Qatar Vision 2030 for the country to develop a knowledge-based economy, will recommence in January 2013.

The research training program is a unique opportunity for Qatari college graduates with an interest in biomedical research to gain hands on experience in world-class research laboratories at WCMC-Q.

Although the program is aimed at recent graduates who are interested in pursuing a career as a bench scientist, clinician or biomedical researcher, applications will be welcomed from nationals with a variety of degrees, for example computer science and business management.

The training program is a full-time, six-month course with trainees receiving a graduation certificate on completion. The students and trainees are also given a stipend as part of a comprehensive compensation package. The program is fully funded by WCMC-Q in partnership with the Qatar Science Leadership Program at Qatar Foundation.

Qatar Vision 2030 aims to transform Qatar into an advanced and progressive nation by encouraging education and training in a variety of disciplines to develop a new generation of Qatari experts and leaders capable of delivering the expectations of Qatari society.

Applications are due by October 15 and an information session will be held at WCMC-Q on September 23.  For further details contact Yassir Hussain, coordinator for the Nationals Training Program, at yah2012@qatar-med.cornell.edu.
