Ashghal works at Khuraytiat Street and Industrial Area

Partial closure of Khuraytiat Street for completion of infrastructure works

Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announces a partial closure on Khuraytiat Street such that the right lane of the street towards Shamal shall remain closed between Khuraytiat Club and Kathban Street for a period of five months from Wednesday, 11/11/2012.

Traffic will be diverted through alternate road as shown in the illustration map. This inevitable diversion is in order to complete the groundwater drain project in order to reduce the increasing groundwater level in the area. Ashghal has contracted with Qatar Building Company and Hyder Consultancy for implementation of the groundwater drain project costing around 109 million Qatar Riyals, to be completed by end of March 2013.

The project includes construction of drainage network with 800 mm diameter and 9400 m in length; another drainage network with 300 to 400 mm diameter and about 4700 m in length, in such a way that the groundwater drain lanes shall be at a distance of 10 meters along the basic drainage lines, and the total length of the network will be about 2500 meters.

In addition, the project includes construction of required number of manholes for the network. While apologizing the inconveniences caused due to this diversion, Ashghal appeals all the commuters and residents of the area to take utmost care in speed limits along the diversion.


Traffic Diversions at Industrial Area

Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announces the following road closures and diversion at Industrial area:

• Permanent closure of the access between Street No (23) and Industrial Road Roundabout from Sunday, 9th September 2012.

• Temporary closure of Street No (29) at the portion of connecting with the East Industrial Road for a week between 9-16 September 2012.  During the closure, access to both the above streets shall be through Wakalat Street.

• Effective from Friday, 21st September 2012, traffic from Street No (23) northwards to Street (31) shall be through the roundabout on Street (15).

These diversions come within the road improvement works on the East Industrial Road that forms a part of the Qatar Expressway Programs implemented by Ashghal to provide improved road network to cope up with the ongoing development and future growth of the state of Qatar.
