QFC Authority’s summer internships promote the growth of Qatar’s Intellectual Capital

The Qatar Financial Centre Authority is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its summer internship programme. The programme started on 1 July with three Qatari nationals and one American beginning a six-week rewarding and educational journey.

Ahmad Jassim Al-Hamadi interned in Strategic Development where he was mentored by strategic specialists and analysts. He is entering his fourth and final year this fall at The University of Manchester, Manchester Business School, UK, seeking a BSc Management. “I loved the internship. I truly believe that the practical knowledge I acquired at QFCA would greatly enhance the theoretical knowledge I gained at the university. Everyone at QFCA has been great and it really has been a great journey,” Al-Hamadi reflects of his summer.

His remarks echoed similar sentiments from other interns.

Amir Asad Javaid who completed six weeks in the Strategic Development department, said: “Working at the QFC Authority as an intern has been both a humbling and enlightening experience. By applying the knowledge I have gained of the financial services sector in Qatar and emulating the outstanding work habits of the brilliant, dedicated team I have had the pleasure of working with, I hope to follow in the QFC Authority’s footsteps, remaining perseverant with one’s vision and always pushing the bar for success higher.”

He enters his second year this fall at The University of Pennsylvania, College of Arts and Sciences, seeking a BA Economics with an expected graduation date in 2015.

Fahad Zainal (pictured), Chief Administration Officer, QFC Authority, said: “Finance internships are challenging and demanding. But the success of this internship programme has affirmed that Qatar Financial Centre Authority is a world class institution with a valuable role to play in training the minds and advancing the careers of promising students in our young nation. We congratulate all our interns on successfully completing their programmes and wish them good luck for the future.”

Mariam Abdulsattar Al-Rasheed is a Qatari national who did three weeks in Audit & Risk. She has completed her second year at the College of North Atlantic and receives her Accounting Diploma this summer. She plans to proceed to a university in the UK this autumn.

Sara Al-Mesnad completed her programme in the Legal Department. She will enter her third year at Georgetown University, School of Foreign Service in Qatar, studying for a BA in Foreign Service with an expected graduation date in 2014.  Sara anticipates furthering her studies in law with Georgetown University, College of Law in the US or Harvard University’s Law Program which Qatar Foundation expects to introduce in Qatar.

QFC Authority’s summer internship programme will be annual and Qatari students are encouraged to apply for summer 2013 positions.  Students who will graduate within one to two years and major in a subject relevant to the QFC Authority work should apply before 1 May of the respective year to have their application considered.
