DFI calls out for volunteers for 4th edition of Doha Tribeca Film Festival

Doha Film Institute (DFI) is calling out to all film enthusiasts wishing to gain invaluable experience at this year’s Doha Tribeca Film Festival (DTFF) from 17 – 24 November. The Festival is looking for more than 500 volunteers to assist in delivering one of the most popular cultural events of the year.

DTFF’s volunteer programme highlights the city’s multicultural and cosmopolitan outlook to Festival visitors from around the world. Volunteers will be exposed to and gain industry experience, attend screenings and workshops, receive a participation certificate and contribute to the success of an internationally renowned film festival.

Maggie Kim, Executive Director of Programming at DFI said the volunteer program has been central to the success of DTFF making it a truly community event: “We look forward to welcoming volunteers who are serious about the film industry and who want to gain some priceless experience at this year’s festival. This opportunity will provide volunteers with the unique chance to network with film experts, industry professionals and international guests and their hard work and commitment results in the creation of a great cultural event.”

Over hundreds of volunteers, including a large number of high school and undergraduate students, homemakers as well as executives lent their support to the past editions of the Festival in a variety of tasks ranging from theatre management, ushers, transportation and guest relation assistants, floaters and runners, in addition to administrative roles.

This exciting opportunity is open to all candidates aged 18 or over. Potential volunteers must register online at www.dohafilminstitute.com and successful applicants will receive orientation training and their assignments prior to the Festival opening. Safety and wellbeing is of paramount importance for all staff at the festival and DFI wants to extend this to volunteers also. The age limit has therefore been set to 18 and over this year, so that it’s aligned with DFI’s working practices.

DTFF will offer specially designed programmes to engage volunteers under the age of 18 from previous editions at the Festival, to build on their experiences and provide a creatively enriching environment.
