For the second year running, Fifty One East awarded Best Retail Company for 2012

Fifty One East, the largest multi-brand luxury store in the Middle East, has been recognized once again as the Best Retail Company of the Year by the Arabian Business Achievement Awards-Qatar for 2012. This award is one in a series of accolades that reflects Darwish Holding’s outstanding business achievements stemming, particularly, from the innovative retail concepts that Chairman, Mr. Bader Abdullah Al Darwish, introduced to Qatar.

The award ceremony took place last night at Grand Hyatt Hotel and was received by Vice Chairman of Darwish Holding, Mr. Saoud Al Darwish.

Mr. Saoud Abdullah Al Darwish said: “We’re very happy to be honored for the second year running with this coveted title. Fifty One East is the result of long years of steadfast hard work and commitment by every single person in our organization who all share the firm belief in the role we are playing to raise the bar in the industry. Fifty One East is today the most influential industry player and a destination for many in Qatar. This is owing to its innovative retail concept and portfolio which brings international standards in lifestyle, shopping and entertainment.  Moreover this award assures our commitment to the vision of His Highness The Emir and our profound work to contribute to the achievement of 2030 Vision”.

In 2011, Mr. Bader Abdullah Al Darwish was named Businessman of the Year.

The Arabian Business award is a premier event in the regional business calendar, which consistently attracts and honours the biggest names in the Gulf business community. Previous winners have included Prince Al-Waleed, King Mohamed VI of Morocco, and King Abdullah of Jordan. In 2008, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum won a special Lifetime Achievement award for his outstanding contribution to global business over the past two decades.

Other winners this year included: QNB, Barwa Bank, Qtel, Katara Hospitality, Ezdan Real Estate and others.
