London Business School Alumni hold inaugural gathering in Doha

London Business School alumni currently living in Qatar, held their inaugural gathering in Doha last week as part of the university’s World Alumni Celebration.

The Doha dinner was part of London Business School’s yearly Worldwide Alumni Gathering, Connecting for Impact, a series of events around the world for graduates from the School.

Held at Trader Vic’s at the Hilton Doha on September 27, the dinner saw graduates of the prestigious school living in Qatar re-connect. VIP guests at the special dinner included Brigitte Curmi, Deputy Head of Mission, French Embassy in Qatar and Simon Cunningham, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, Qatari Diar.

London Business School was established in 1964 and offers a range of postgraduate programmes in finance and business in addition to its flagship Masters of Business Administration course. The School has campuses in London and Dubai. Around 8,000 executives attend the School’s non-degree programmes each year. Both the School’s full-time and Executive MBA programmes rank among the World’s best, according to the Financial Times and BusinessWeek business education surveys.

“The School has more than 34,000 alumni in more than 120 countries, organised through 65-plus alumni clubs,” said event organiser Tarek Sabra. “There are around 50 highly qualified alumni from London Business School currently living in Doha, holding post graduate degrees from the School including MBAs, Executive MBA and Masters of Finance working in a diverse range of high profile positions across many industries.”

Mr. Sabra said the group was in the process of forming an alumni club and plan to have regular networking gatherings as well as other events including guest speakers.

“The Worldwide Alumni Celebration is held annually and is a highlight of the School year, helping to build the alumni network and demonstrate the School’s global impact,” Mr. Sabra said. “It allows us to bring more alumni together than at any other time of the year, re-connecting them with one another and the School and making them feel proud to be associated with London Business School.

“This is our first event in Doha and we look forward to more gatherings and forming a support network in Qatar to update and educate alumni about what is happening at the School, lifelong learning opportunities and other events.”
