The ninth edition of Milipol Qatar 2012 – the international internal security exhibition – to be held under the patronage of HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and opening at the Doha Exhibition Centre on October 8, will see the participation of 265 companies from 38 countries.
Giving details of the military expo, which gathers decision-makers, key representatives from this sector, exhibitors and experts, Milipol Qatar Committee President, Brigadier Sheikh Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani, said all final preparations for the event have been completed as scheduled.
“The 9th edition of Milipol Qatar has special significance given the unprecedented surge Qatar is witnessing in all fields, thanks to the wise polices and ambitious development plans, which provided the appropriate environment to attract investors and unleash energies. These made Qatar a major destination of investors with huge urban and economic projects such as New Port Project, Qatar Rail and Qatar’s hosting World Cup 2022,” Brigadier Al Thani said.
The Milipol committee had participated in all major global security exhibitions to attract many companies to the event, he added. Committee member Brigadier Saud Rashid Al Shafi and General Manager of Milipol France Michael Weatherseed also attended the media briefing.
“Each year the exhibition is growing and more area is reserved and more global companies are participating as a result of the reputation gained by Qatar in all spheres and by the keen interest taken by the Minister of State for Interior Affairs HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani in this exhibition,” said Brigadier Al Thani.
Milipol Qatar provides a showcase for products and services used in the security field for the following sectors – police, coastal and border security, airport and port security, customs, special security forces, civil defence, penal institutions, protection of sensitive sites and perimeter security, protection of oil and gas industry sites.
For his part, the General Manager of Milipol France Michael Weatherseed said that the marketing plan of the Milipol Qatar was successful as new companies and new countries are participating in this edition of Milipol. He added that 42 French companies are participating in the French pavilion and more than six French companies outside the French pavilion.
The expo features products and services from electronics, information technology, mobility, consultancy, training and services, arms and ammunition, optics/optronics, fabrics, special equipment and specialty fields.
The total reserved area for the expo is 5623sqm and it is 24% higher than Milipol Qatar 2010. 265 companies from 38 countries will be participating in the exhibition. From the list of participating countries, the 11 featuring for the first time are Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, and South Korea, officials said.
The Milipol Qatar chief said that there will be eight pavilions namely American (America, Canada), German Pavilion (Germany, Switzerland and Austria), Czech Pavilion, French Pavilion, Brazilian pavilion, Pakistani pavilion, Jordan pavilion and UAE pavilion. French and UAE pavilions are the biggest ones, officials said.
The Ministry of Interior Qatar is featuring a pavilion spread over 1,007 sqm while the Internal Security Force (Lakhwiya) will showcase itself over 1,056 sqm.
Milipol Qatar has evolved into one of the major security exhibitions at the international level and it gives the opportunity for participants to get the latest updates on security related technology. This expo boosts the security needs of Qatar, GCC and Arab and other regional countries, officials said.
