Qtel is distributing gifts to people performing the Hajj pilgrimage to the Holy City of Mecca in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility program.
Qtel executives visited Hajj trip organisers across Qatar to distribute the gifts, and received the organisers at Qtel Headquarters in Doha.
“We are delighted to give back to the community with these gifts, and continue our longstanding efforts in aiding pilgrims on their spiritual journey,” said Hamad Al Marzouqi, Qtel’s assistant director of sponsorship and corporate social responsibility, who led his team’s efforts in distributing the gifts.
Qtel is providing ihrams, a special item of white clothing worn for performing Hajj, along with umbrellas and sprayers for lessening the effects of the heat.
“Qtel’s initiatives contributed in building its reputation in society,” said Fahad Arhama Al Kuwari from Fahd Travels. “Gifts presented by Qtel bring happiness to the pilgrims, and shows that Qtel supports and understands the needs of the community.”
“Qtel is one of the leading companies in supporting community,” said Mohammad Johar Saeed, from Al Furqan Travels and Tours. “The gifts are accepted with pleasure.” As well as the direct support for pilgrims, Qtel is also making sure its communications services meet the needs of people during their time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Qtel customers undertaking Hajj can keep in touch with friends and family around the world with the Passport service. Passport provides 100 roaming minutes and 1 GB of roaming data for only QR 100 and is available on all networks in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including STC, Mobily and Zain.
This Hajj campaign is one of many ways that Qtel continues to support the Qatar community. Qtel is now in the second phase of the Refaq campaign, in which volunteers refurbish homes and distribute vouchers to families living in poor conditions.
