Candidates from the Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) today presented their report from their recent summer fact-finding mission to Asia. The 33 candidates from the Current and Future Leaders program travelled to Singapore and China in June to study best practice initiatives in the region and to develop processes to implement these learnings in Qatar.
During the feedback session, the candidates reported on their insights into key issues related to Public Private Partnerships and how they could be used to drive and promote global economic development. Presentations also included sessions on how candidates could develop and mobilise human capital towards the Qatar national vision as well as the introduction of new development initiatives and themes from the visit.
Further sessions reported on the study trips findings into how to create and sustain knowledge through innovation and analysis into customer centricity. The summer tour included visits to Singapore Economic Development Board, The Urban Redevelopment Board and the China Municipal Government Office.
“Fact-finding tours such as these are critical in allowing our candidates the opportunity to see best practice initiatives from around the world. This is key in developing our leaders for the future and the centre will continue to expose the best talent in Qatar to the strongest possible research opportunities.” said His Excellency Sheikh Dr Abdulla Bin Ali Al Thani, Board Member and Executive Director of QLC.
The Current and Future Leaders program forms part of QLC’s strategy to select highly talented individuals with proven capacity for leadership and realise their potential through careful academic teaching and exposure to global learning initiatives.
Candidates, aged between 25-35 can apply to the Current and Future Leaders program and are selected through an intensive screening and selection process. Over a two-year period, candidates within each stream are exposed to tailored learning and development modules.
Khaled El Gohary, Director of Strategy and Performance added, “These projects offer our candidates an excellent source for knowledge transfer between leading global institutions and this leadership elite.”
