All eyes on Qatar this Eid

On the occasion of Eid Al Adha, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) in partnership with a number of leading cultural and art Qatari institution is organizing a six day packed program full of festivities and exciting activities for all starting from the 26th of October till the 1st of November.

The Eid Al Adha celebrations will take place throughout Qatar at Katara, the Pearl-Qatar, the Museums, Aquapark, Aspire, Souq Waqif and at other attractions. The events will include folklore games, entertainment contests, crafts, traditional Qatari feasts, art performances, fireworks, heritage exhibitions, concerts as well as other outdoor activities.

On this occasion, Mr. Abdullah Mallala Al Bader, The Director of Tourism at QTA, said, “We are very excited to bring to Qatar the largest Eid celebration yet. This festival follows the great success we had with Eid Al Fitr activities that attracted a large number of visitors from around the region and the engaged the country in a nationwide celebration. To all guests coming into Doha whether through our borders or the airport, the Eid celebration will begin from the moment they touch down on Qatar soil”.

To further spread the captivating spirit of Eid festivity, QTA will greet all its visitors coming into Doha with a special welcome. On the Abu Samra borders between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, QTA will receive neighbouring guests with flowers and cold refreshments and distribute the Eid program and the tourism map of Qatar. In addition, an information booth has been placed at the airport to distribute the Eid program and tourism guides to all the arriving guests.

“For this Eid, we are partnering with numerous cultural and arts institutions, to ensure that we reach the widest possible audience. This initiative is in line with QTA’s strategy to stimulate the local tourism industry and attract visitors to discover and experience Qatar at its very best” added Mr. Al Bader.

The Eid activities’ list of partners include the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage; the Cultural District (Katara); The Pearl, Qatar, Souq Waqif, Qatar Museums Authority (QMA); Aquapark, Aspire, Fun Land, Dream Park, Sawt Al-Rayan, q.media, while participating malls and commercial centers comprise the Mall, the Gate, Lagoona Mall, Royal Plaza; Landmark Mall; Hyatt Plaza and Al Khor Mall.

The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage is taking part in the Eid entertainment activities with a rich schedule of activities including traditional performances that will reflect the diversity of local heritage and the different signing arts in addition to a number of popular games and entertainment contests, crafts, traditional Qatari feasts, art performances. These will all take place at Corniche Al Dafna starting from 4.00 pm, to 11.00 pm.

The Cultural District (Katara) will feature a dramatic fireworks show that will light up the skies of Doha starting from 8.30pm on the first day of Eid. Cultural activities will run from the first till the fourth day of Eid in Souq Wakif and will include magic shows, kids games, concerts and artistic including “Touyour Al Jannah” (Birds of Heaven) and Hala Turk and many more. Aspire Zone will host the popular children theatrical show “Dora the Explorer” on the first and second day of Eid. The Pearl-Qatar will hold a number of activities for families including Carousel, Face painting and other fun games from 4.00 PM to 8.00 PM all through Eid Al Adha.

On the first day of Eid The Qatar National Theatre will host the “Doha Got Talent” show, while Al Rayyan Theatre located at Souq Waqif, will host live concerts incorporating top artists, starting from 9.00 pm, until midnight all through the Eid celebration.

Over the Eid holiday, Aquapark will hold activities for all the family and the Museum of Islamic Art Park will welcome visitors from 10.30 am until 05.30 pm. Additionally, shopping malls and commercial centers will alternately host several appealing events.

Hotels and Tour Operators will also be providing special offers and tailor made packages for this festive occasion. With such an attractive packed program of events, Qatar is on course to be the hub of the biggest Eid festivities ever this Adha season for both visitors and residents alike.
