Qtel continues its Refaq corporate social responsibility initiative by distributing gifts and sweets in neighbourhoods across the country during Eid Al-Adha.
Refaq volunteers primarily refurbish houses and distribute vouchers for families living in poor conditions. During Eid, they will offer coffee, tea and sweets after Eid prayers in the neighbourhoods of Al Aziziyah, Umm Salal Mohammed, Izgawa, Muaither Al Shemaliah, Ain Khaled and Al Dafna. Volunteers will also distribute Eidieh, which are special gifts for children.
Hamad Al Marzouki, Qtel’s Assistant Director of Sponsorship and Corporate Social Responsibility, said: “Qtel sponsors many religious, social and other activities in Qatar, as part of its corporate social responsibility. We are reaching out to the community with such lovely traditional deeds. We also thank volunteers for their efforts in giving back to the community.”
Previously during the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr, 50 of Qtel’s Refaq volunteers set up tents at neighborhood mosques where they handed out coffee, tea and sweets for people attending prayers. Qtel received a positive response from the Qatari youth, who enjoyed volunteering during those holiday periods.
Refaq volunteers are currently in Phase II of the initiative, during which they will be completely renovating homes in very poor condition.
Refaq is a major community program that Qtel supports and organizes in its efforts to give back to the community. Refaq is part of the Alkhair (Goodness) campaign, which Qtel launched during Ramadan to encourage people to spread good deeds and volunteer in social, sports and cultural areas.
Qtel also supported the Alkair campaign by hosting a wall at the Landmark Mall during the Holy Month of Ramadan. Participants wrote messages about good deeds, and the event brought happiness into people’s hearts.
