Dhreima kids take part in media training

A group of 19 children from Dhreima (Qatar Orphan Foundation) have participated in a Media Literacy programme launched by the Doha Centre for Media Freedom.

The aim of the course was for the children to develop analytical skills and critical thinking, and understand the role of media in their lives. Nasser Alali, from the Doha Center for Media Freedom, said that this course lasted two days in the headquarters of Dhreima and focused on media techniques, teaching the participants to make interviews and report news.

A total of 42 schools are participating in this media education program. On November 20 there will be another training workshop which will include a larger number of participants.

According to the statistics published by Doha Centre for Media Freedom, 80 percent of Qatari schools don’t give any type of media education, although 90 percent of the students use media in their daily life, and they spend more time with electronic media than they spend in school.
