The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) unveiled completing five highway projects end of 2017. HE Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al Muhannadi, President of Ashghal, said five important projects will be completed by end of this year, including Lusail Expressway and Al Rayyad Road.

The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’, will close and divert an 800 metre section of Al Furousiya Street to enable the construction of a free flowing, three-level interchange on Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street. The proposed diversion has been designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic and will be implemented in two phases. The first phase will commence from 22 July 2017 and will be in place for two (2) months.

Team Qatar’s javelin thrower Ahmed Budair has wasted no time since his first ever senior participation - the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The 21-year-old - who became the first Qatari to ever take part in the Olympic Javelin competition - has hit the ground running, qualifying to the 2017 World Championships in Athletics in London after topping the competition in the 16th GCC Athletics Championship in April.

International Bank of Qatar (ibq) announced its H1 2017 results which show total operating income up 17 per cent and net profit up 20 per cent, compared to the first half of 2016 with net profit reaching QAR 278 M.  During the last few months, the Bank has continued to de-risk its balance sheet and reduce its reliance on wholesale interbank funding.

Banking stocks boosted Qatar's equities market on Wednesday, with some share prices approaching levels last reached before the country's diplomatic crisis erupted in early June, while other bourses in the region were mostly quiet. 

The Qatar index advanced by 1.2 percent to 9,502 points, its highest finish since Saudi Arabia and other Arab states cut diplomatic and transport links with Doha on June 5. Wednesday's gain left the index only 4.3 percent below its pre-crisis close. It has been as much as 13 percent lower early this month.
