The number of passenger cars in use in Qatar is expected to reach about 912,000 units by 2020, registering the highest annualised growth of 5.4% in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) region, according to Alpen Capital.

The Public Works Authority of Qatar ‘Ashghal’ has today announced the completion of approximately 95% of the Dukhan Highway Central project. The project, which forms part of Ashghal’s Expressway Programme, is expected to be complete in Q1 2017 and will establish a 15 kilometre strategic link from the west of Doha to Al Sheehaniya and other key future public venues and residential areas.

Takashi Kobayashi, Director of the Japanese Olympic Committee and Peggy Liddick, Head Coach of the Australian women’s gymnastics team were accompanied on their tour by Mr. Ferras Ahmed from the Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF).

An innovative new roof is in the process of being installed at Khalifa International Stadium, which will provide more shade to the stands and pitch, while also letting enough sunlight through to the turf for natural growth of the grass. The ‘big lift’ operation of the roof is completed and the installation of the roof membrane are currently ongoing and will continue until early January, with completion of the stadium renovation planned for the first quarter of 2017.
