Hamad International Airport (HIA) has served a total of 7.8 million passengers in the second quarter of 2018 according to second quarter results. HIA has handled 53,517 aircraft movements in Q2 2018, achieving an increase of 2.42 % compared to the previous quarter. HIA has also handled 540,357 tonnes of cargo in the second quarter of 2018, which is 5% more than the amount of cargo handled in the first quarter of the year.

Brigadier Muhammad Abdullah Al Maliki, Secretary of National Traffic Safety Committee, has said that Qatar stands at number one among the Middle East countries regarding the traffic safety.

“In order to reduce pedestrian accidents, which usually occur on the highways, about 35 places will have new pedestrian bridges. And also the dispatch points of ambulances will be made accordingly and all these steps are part of the second phase of the National Traffic Safety Strategy (2018-2022) which has already been started,” said Brigadier  Al Maliki.
