The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with Al-Jaber Holding Group , naming the latter as the official  sponsor of the upcoming GCC Olympic Teams Championship to be hosted by Doha for the two consecutive years.

Mr. Saoud Al-Mohannadi, the QFA Secretary General signed on behalf of the Association, alongside Mr. Jaber Sultan Al-Jaber, the CEO of Al-Jaber Holding Group.

In a true Olympic spirit of never giving up, sports-hub of the Arab world, Doha is expected to bid for the Summer Games again, a top Asian official said yesterday. Doha, which lost the 2016 Olympic Games bid three years ago, has a little over a month’s time to submit its bid file for the 2020 Games. The deadline for submitting the bids is September 1. The IOC will decide in Buenos Aires on September 7, 2013, which city is to host the 2020 Summer Games.

QEWC has signed an agreement with the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company to start the construction of the independent power project which will be the largest in the sultanate. In a major development in the fledgling GCC power sector, Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) has joined three other international partners to set up a 2,000-megawatt (MW) gas-propelled power plant in the Sultanate of Oman.

Qatari Diar, the property investment arm of the Qatar government, is cutting back staff and restructuring management as part of a re-evaluation of its business plans.

The changes include a new chairman, the Qatar finance minister Yousef Hussein Kamal, who last month replaced the Qatar prime minister Sheikh Hamad Al Thani.
