The State of Qatar has renewed the call to end the unjust and unlawful blockade imposed on it, stressing the disappointment of the accounts upon which the blockading countries relied on to undermine the State of Qatar and its sovereign decision, as well as the failure of the policies that relied on the separation of brotherly peoples. It stated that these policies have affected the solidarity and regional cooperation, which has become more necessary amid the outbreak of the corona pandemic (Covid-19).

Around 90% of those infected with the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) do not display any symptoms and often recover very quickly with little medical care, and rarely have any impacts of the disease after being fully recovered, a senior official said.

Dr Al-Mubashir Abu Bakr Abdo, head of the programme to combat communicable diseases at the Ministry of Public Health, was talking to Qatar TV Friday about his personal experience of recovering from Covid-19.

Qatar has witnessed a substantial improvement in air quality over the past few weeks, say scientists at the Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU). According to the team at QEERI’s Environment & Sustainability Center (ESC), this change is, in large part, a result of social distancing policies the State of Qatar has put in place to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

Air pollution is harmful – we know that – but it becomes deadly in a global pandemic of a disease that attacks the lungs. With water quality taking precedence, it may seem that the quality of air we breathe is taken for granted. Polluted air has killed millions around the world, and a large number of deaths caused by COVID-19 have been linked to pre-existing health conditions similar to diseases caused by air pollution, according to Hanadi Al Thani (pictured).

Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) wishes everyone a blessed Ramadan. On this occasion, QIB has announced the new hours for operating branches and service centers that will be effective during the holy month of Ramadan.

The following branches will be operating from Sunday to Thursday, from 9:00am to 1:00pm: Salwa Road, Al Rayyan, Al Sadd, Corporate Branch (Grand Hamad Street), Old Airport Road and Sheikh Abdulla Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Culture Center (Fanar).

The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has continued its efforts to support development and relief causes in sister and friendly developing countries and to extend a helping hand and provide assistance to them, in implementation of Qatar’s leadership, institutions and community to provide relief to nations and needy people around the world. 

The fund provided over $577m in assistance to countries in 2019, according to its annual report.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has provided advice on its website on how to stay safe this Ramadan.

“The holy month of Ramadan is a special time of the year for all Muslims but this year Ramadan will be very different due to the ongoing Covid-19 situation. It has changed many aspects of daily life and this will impact on how we experience Ramadan in 2020,” the ministry said in a statement.
