Al-Ahli Hospital in Doha has celebrated the first anniversary of its accreditation as a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) provider. The hospital has been providing the healthcare practitioners onsite as well as offsite opportunities to enhance their competencies and contribute to the improvement of healthcare in Qatar.

While speaking to this newspaper yesterday, Dr Loui al-Fakhri, head of staff training and development, said: “Al-Ahli Hospital is the largest private CPD provider in Qatar and is striving to expand and streamline its capacity to provide more CPD opportunities to all healthcare practitioners in Qatar.” Dr al-Fakhri said that besides physicians, beneficiaries of the CPD programme include nurses, dentists, pharmacists and other allied health professionals. “The hospital has weekly programmes for its own staff and is planning to provide access to external attendees (from other healthcare institutions) soon. The programme assigns educational sessions on rotational basis across all of hospital’s clinics.”

Dr al-Fakhri added that the hospital has organised three conferences that were attended by its staff as well as several other healthcare practitioners. The attendees benefited from the presentations on the latest advances in medicines delivered by local as well as international experts. Earlier, Al-Ahli Hospital’s chief of medical staff, Dr Abdul Azeem and CEO Khalid al-Emadi briefed journalists on the achievements of hospital’s CPD programme and its future plans.
