H E Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Cultural Adviser at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar's candidate for the post of Director-General of Unesco has been officially nominated to the post, along with other nine candidates including three Arabs.
 
The Chairperson of the Executive Board of UNESCO Michael Worbs yesterday officially announced the names of the nine candidates, Qatar News Agency reported yesterday. The other three Arab candidates are Saleh Al-Hasnawi from Iraq, Moushira Khattab from Egypt, and Vera El-Khoury Lacoeuilhe from Lebanon.  The other candidates were Polad Bulbuloglu from Azerbaijan, Pham Sanh Chau from Viet Nam, Qian Tang from China, Juan Alfonso Fuentes Soria from Guatemala, and Audrey Azoulay from France.
 
These nine candidates will be interviewed during the 201st Board session on Wednesday 26 and Thursday 27 April 2017.
