Jaidah Automotive – a subsidiary of the long-established and influential conglomerate Jaidah Group and the exclusive importer and distributor of Chevrolet in Qatar, announced the arrival of Chevrolet’s all-new 2013 Traverse to Doha.

The Traverse was the subject of an official launch event on the evening of March 5 at the Jaidah Automotive Khalifa Showroom, where the new vehicle was unveiled to the Qatari motoring public, GM representatives, and media. Also present was a delegation from the Doha Embassy of the Philippines, including its ambassador, H.E. Crescente R. Relacion.

The Traverse is one of the Middle East’s most popular crossover SUVs and is available now from Jaidah’s showroom in central Doha. Jaidah Automotive has an exclusive arrangement with Chevrolet for the import and retail of its world-class automobiles and so the all-new Traverse will not be available anywhere else in the country.

The vehicle returns to the Qatari market with a host of improvements and refinements – improvements that make what is already a class-leading automobile even better.

Available in two- and all-wheel-drive configurations, the Traverse is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 aluminum engine with Variable Valve Timing, matched with a six speed automatic transmission. This delivers an optimal balance of power and performance. Rated at 288hp, the vehicle delivers fuel economy of 13.8 L/100km for city driving and 9.8 L/100km on the highway.

The 2013 Traverse offers class-leading space for both people and cargo, with enhanced style, refinement, connectivity and safety as well as an athletic new exterior design, including a more expressive front end with a clear Chevrolet character. The front features a power dome hood, a horizontal grille, new lamps, chrome accents, and sculpted front corners. At the rear, redesigned lamps and the license plate pocket are positioned in the new lift gate for a sportier look.

Space is the hallmark of the Traverse interior, with its class-leading spaciousness, comfortable and flexible seating for up to eight adults, and more cargo-carrying capacity than any other vehicle in its sector. The new Traverse builds on these established attributes with new features and refined appointments.

Upgraded materials include soft-touch surfaces on the instrument panel and front door uppers, contrasting stitching, chrome and silver accents, and blue ambient lighting that flows through the cabin. A new center stack showcases a 6.5-inch color touch radio with the available Chevrolet ‘MyLink’ infotainment systems.

MyLink includes large, easy-to-use controls and intuitive menus that enable the driver to quickly and easily choose the level of connectivity that works for them. MyLink enables customers to seamlessly integrate their smartphones for hands-free calling through the audio system, and Bluetooth streaming of popular internet radio favorites.  The new Traverse is offered in three model choices, with three interior color choices, in cloth or leather.

Three rows of seating are standard on all models and the Traverse’s 691 liters of cargo room behind its seating is a class leader for a crossover SUV, with easy-to-operate safety belts to increase the emphasis on safety.

The 3,021mm wheelbase enables smooth, stable ride and handling characteristics. The available intelligent all-wheel-drive system provides increased traction on slippery roads by actively managing the torque distribution between the front and rear axles. There is no driver intervention; the system automatically decides how much torque to apply and delivers it to the wheels that have the best traction. Traverse offers utility-like towing capacity of up to 2,358kg.

Power is nothing without safety, though, and the Traverse has recently earned top honors from leading third-party organizations and in government crash testing. The new 2013 model enhances its safety reputation with the industry’s first front center side air bag. It is engineered to provide additional restraint to drivers and front passengers in far-side impact crashes, where the affected occupant is on the opposite, non-struck side of the vehicle. The front center airbag is just one of a host of new safety features.

These include: head curtain side air bags with rollover protection for outboard occupants in all seating rows; a rearview camera system;  Standard four-wheel-disc brake system with ABS; hill assist brakes, and a strong body structure to absorb crash energy and provide a protective ‘safety cage’ around occupants.

Mark Jenkins

Mr Mark Jenkins, General Manager of Jaidah Automotive, commented: “Jaidah Automotive is delighted to bring the all-new 2013 Traverse to Qatar. The list of ways in which the 2013 model has been improved upon is exhaustive, and we’ve really only scratched the surface here. What we can say for certain is that the new Traverse is better looking both inside and out, has enhanced levels of trim and comfort in the cabin, and is safer and more spacious than its predecessor.”

“Chevrolet have somehow made what was already a fantastic automobile even better and, as a result, we are certain that there is going to be a huge level of interest in the new Traverse. It’s superior in every way to the model it replaces and, we genuinely believe, the best automobile in its class. We’re confident that the new Traverse will meet – and exceed – our customers’ expectations and we would urge you to come to our showroom and see for yourself,” he added.
