Jaidah Automotive – a subsidiary of the long-established and influential conglomerate Jaidah Group and the exclusive importer and distributor of Chevrolet in Qatar – has launched the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup in Doha.

The launch event was presided over by Mr Mark Jenkins, General Manager of Jaidah Automotive, in the presence of GM representatives and leading automotive media personalities. Engineered to be stronger, smarter and more capable than ever before, the 2014 Silverado pickup’s hundreds of improvements, large and small, include:

The EcoTec3 engine is a 5.3L V8 certified at 355 horsepower and 519 Nm of torque, which offers the best power, fuel efficiency and towing capability of any pickup, without the cost and complexity of turbocharging. It features direct fuel injection, Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and continuously variable valve timing – a combination not found in competitive trucks. Providing the proven power, torque and dependability of a large-displacement engine, the engine can also seamlessly switch to four-cylinder mode to save fuel during light-load driving. Thus, the 5.3L V8 has an EPA–estimated fuel economy of up to 10.2 L/100km highway – the best of any V-8 pickup.

For towing capacity, the Silverado equipped with the 5.3L V8, will have towing ratings of up to 5,216 kg – which is more than any pickup currently on the market.

The Silverado’s innovative technology is custom-made to the way customers use full-size pickups –providing the power, efficiency, refinement and dependability they expect from their trucks. Its high-strength steel makes the frames and cabs stronger and lighter, yet extremely capable of taking the pounding of towing, hauling and off-road operation, year after year. Also, its strategic use of aluminum alloys reduces the weight of engines, front suspension components, hoods and other parts for better fuel efficiency.

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado’s exterior design blends strong Chevy truck heritage with a refined, modern aesthetic. Its new design is more muscular, functional and aerodynamic, with twin-port grille, full-width bumper and dual power dome hood that create a strong presence carried throughout in sculpted body sides and fender flares.

Designed for more than just looks, the Silverado’s new front end is engineered to improve sealing for more efficient cooling, while the roof and tailgate spoiler were shaped in the wind tunnel to smooth airflow over the truck for reduced drag.

The all-new interiors of the 2014 Silverado reflect the same focus on form and function. The upright instrument panel, six-gauge instrument cluster and multiple storage options are tailored specifically to the needs of truck customers. Controls are functional, logically placed and easy to operate with work gloves on. Rear doors on crew cabs are larger, for easier entry and exit, and rear doors on double cab models are now hinged at the front for easier access, especially in tight spots. Altogether, the Silverado’s new interiors feature the Chevrolet MyLink with an 8-inch color touch screen radio – which provides powerful connectivity for work or family with simple, intuitive controls – ample storage, multiple power and USB connections, and available high-wear cloth for bench or bucket seats.

For a stronger, quieter cab, the 2014 Silverado has nearly two-thirds of the structure made from high-strength steel for a confident feel and improved safety. Additionally, its new shear-style body mounts tune out both up-and-down and side-to-side movement for a quieter, more comfortable ride. Double cab and crew cab models have a set of hydraulic body mounts to further isolate the cabs, which when combined with numerous other acoustic and NVH (noise vibration and harshness) enhancements, results in is a solid, refined feel with no loss in traditional truck capability.

The chassis of the 2014 Silverado includes a number of customer-focused updates, including a revised front and rear suspension. Its wider wheels also provide a more comfortable ride and more confident handling, while its electric power steering improves steering feel and reduces fuel consumption. The Silverado’s new four-wheel-disc brakes with Duralife™ rotors improve brake feel and potentially double rotor life.

For safety, the Silverado will be available with segment-exclusive safety features such as Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning with an Active Safety Seat, and Front and Rear Park Assist. StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway Control and Hill Start Assist are standard on all Silverado’s.

For cargo management, the Silverado’s pickup box is made from roll-formed steel for increased strength and reduced mass, compared with the stamped beds used by major competitors, plus a range of smart solutions for everyday life.

Silverado’s CornerStep bumper, combined with handholds built into the new box rail protectors, makes it easier to access the box. The bed is also available with new upper tie-down hooks, under-rail light-emitting diode lighting, and an EZ Lift and Lower tailgate.

“Jaidah Automotive is extremely proud to bring to Qatar the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado,” Mr Jenkins said. “Taking into account its wide range of technologically advanced design and components, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado will surely offer its unmatched and market-leading power, safety, comfort, cargo and towing capability, and fuel efficiency.

“Undoubtedly, all of its variants will exceed the expectations of various segments and delight pickup lovers across Qatar,” he added.

All customers of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado will receive new levels of aftersales service under Chevrolet Care. This include a high level customer service experience based on four pillars, such as industry-leading service pricing and cost transparency; booking service with same day delivery; quality service by certified technicians as well as a regional three year/100,000 km warranty and 24x7 regional roadside assistance.
