The lovable Alrabaa characters from Ooredoo were celebrating a major milestone this weekend, as executives predicted their charity calls offer would exceed more than 100,000,000 local calls by the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan. As the centrepiece of this year’s Alrabaa campaign, Ooredoo is donating 1 dirham to charity for every local call made, with the final amount set to be presented after the Eid break.

Having reached 85,395,400 local calls, the Alrabaa characters celebrated with a special appearance on the Doha Corniche. Volunteers distributed caps and water bottles for people walking on the Corniche at sunset, and even found time to work out alongside the sports fans and exercisers at the popular location.

“The Alrabaa campaign has captured people’s imaginations, and it’s been excellent to see them interacting with people from all walks of life across Qatar,” said Fatima Al Kuwari, Director, Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo. “We’re delighted that the current total of local calls made during the campaign has exceeded 85,000,000, and we believe we’re on the way to smashing through the 100,000,000 target by the end of Ramadan.”

As well as making a donation for every local call, Ooredoo is also offering members of its popular Nojoom reward programme the opportunity to convert their Nojoom points for charity. Working with Qatar Charity and Eid Charity, Ooredoo is enabling people to use their points to buy Iftar meals for the poor and needy.

So far, kind-hearted Nojoom members have donated a staggering 6,691,300 points to the programme. There is still time for people to contribute to both campaigns, either by making calls or by donating their Nojoompoints, and Ooredoo is anticipating on-going support for both during the final week of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Throughout Ramadan, Ooredoo’s Alrabaa have taken part in a wide range of visits to hospitals, appearances at local malls, and events for local charities. The team are planning a host of surprises that will take place over the Eid break. Customers can follow Ooredoo Ramadan campaign via the Ooredoo website at www.ooredoo.qa, Ooredoo’s Facebook page and TV ads, or follow on Twitter @OoredooQatar and the hashtag #alrabaa.
