The American Chamber of Commerce in Qatar (AmCham Qatar) has appointed international strategic communications consultancy Blue Rubicon as its official communications partner, responsible for promoting the Chamber’s activities in the country.
AmCham Qatar, the first foreign Chamber of Commerce established in Qatar, and Blue Rubicon, a global consultancy with a successful track record in Qatar and the region, will work to promote the growing variety of events and services offered to the AmCham Qatar members as the Chamber seeks to expand commercial ties between traditional allies the U.S. and Qatar. This year, AmCham Qatar grew its exclusive events calendar and further cemented its position as an ideal forum for American, Qatari and international businesses looking to do business in Qatar and/or with the United States.
Robert Hager, Chairman of AmCham Qatar, said: “Our organisation is a key supporter and driver of the strong business links between Qatar and the U.S. Those ties encompass not only the American businesses operating in Qatar but anyone with a genuine interest in doing business in the U.S. We are expanding our portfolio of events for businesses, decision makers and individuals looking to join our active community and look forward to welcoming new members this year in line with increasing interest from American companies to expand in Qatar.”

Despite the challenging global economic environment, American companies remain bullish on the long-term prospects within Qatar. A recent study by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, AmCham Qatar and Ernst & Young revealed that American companies expect the level of investment and trade with Qatar to ‘increase’ or ‘remain about the same’ at least over the next five years. Neil Daugherty, Blue Rubicon’s Managing Director in Qatar, said: “We are honored to be working with AmCham Qatar to grow their presence in the country through our strategic approach to communications. At Blue Rubicon, we are focused on merging the best thinking on reputation management and global communications, with a deep understanding of Qatar’s history and culture.”
Blue Rubicon has been working in Qatar since 2007 on high profile strategic communications projects for Qatari organizations, and working for global businesses in Qatar, including a number of the country’s largest foreign investors. Its current clients include the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, Qatar Museums, Aspire Zone Foundation, Maersk Oil Qatar and the College of North Atlantic in Qatar.
