The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ opened phase 3 of the C-Ring Road Development project for traffic flow on Sunday 15th of March, 2015.

Ashghal has completed the third phase of the C-Ring Road as per schedule. Road users can now benefit from an additional lane extending from the middle point between Rawdat Al Khail and New Slata intersections to the middle point between Rawdat Al Khail and Al Mansoura intersections. This part of the C-Ring Road has been widened from three lanes to four in each direction andits overall design was also improved.

In the last period, Ashghal was keen on implementing the project and worked round the clock seven days a week to finish on time; working at maximum capacity through a team that included hundreds of workers, supervisors, and dozens of construction equipment. Moreover, all entrances to residential areas and commercial establishments remained open throughout the last period in order to minimise traffic disruption resulting from the implementation works.

It is worth noting that this phase is part of the C-Ring Road Development project, which involves a 6.3 km stretch from C-Ring Road’s intersection with Al Kinana Street to Umm Ghuwailina roundabout, known as the VIPs roundabout. The project mainly aims at enhancing the road capacity to accommodate the current and future traffic needs. All four phases of the C-Ring Road project are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2015.

Given the importance of the C-Ring Road as one of the main arteries linking between vital areas around Doha, Ashghal has kept residents of the area and business owners fully informed about the project’s progress through direct communication, Ashghal’s website, and social media accounts. Before the start of the construction works, project brochures in Arabic and English were distributed to all residents and businesses in the area to inform them about the details of the project. A designated community liaison officer was also appointed to respond to any related requests and enquiries.

In addition, Ashghal took all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of both workers and road users through the implementation of directional signs, electronic road signs and concrete barriers along work area. The C-Ring Road Development project is part of a series of vital projects implemented by Ashghal to improve and enhance the network of local roads and expressways across the country. Road enhancement works include converting roundabouts to signal-controlled intersections and widening roads to increase capacity.
