The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announces that it will implement a temporary closure on part of Al Rayyan Al Ateeq Street in the direction from Doha to Dukhan (Westbound) and on one lane in the opposite direction. The closed part of the road extends for a distance of 200 metres in front of Al Rayyan Park, as shown in the attached map. The closure, which will be implemented in coordination with the Traffic Department, will start on Saturday 23 April 2016, and will last two months.

During this period, traffic on the closed part of Al Rayyan Street heading to Dukhan will be diverted to the existing service road, while one lane will remain open to traffic in the opposite direction. Speed limit will be temporarily reduced to 30km/h in the closure area and speed humps will be installed for the safety of road users. This closure is required to facilitate micro tunnelling works that are part of the Dukhan Highway East project, to complete the storm water system in the area.

It is worth mentioning that Dukhan Highway East project includes the construction of an 11 km road with four lanes in each direction, as well as upgrading the service roads including seven multi-level interchanges, and landscaping. Ashghal will install road signs advising motorists of the closure. The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
